Luxurious and fabolous Singapore

We knew Singapore was going to be more expensive than the rest of Asia, so we were very lucky when a friend of a friend, Are, said we were welcome to stay at his place…

Every house was surrounded by a pool

We arrived Singapore very early in the morning and we took a cab to Are’s place. He lived just outside of the city on an island called Sentosa in a very nice area.

Are`s luxury apartment

Are showed great hospitality and waited for us to arrive and greeted us before he went to work. For the first time in our trip we got to sleep in separate rooms, and also we got to take our first hot-water shower.  After a little power nap, we were ready to explore the city. The island had free buses into the city which was great, and the subway system was easy to use.

The best chinatown so far, even better than Beijing

We went to the financial district for lunch, and did a little bit of shopping in Chinatown before we walked along Riverside.

Singapore's famous fountain

Singapore is currently building the first casino with a park on the top of the casino. How amazing is that? Also Are told us that the crime-solving-rate is extremely high in Singapore, 98%, because they have a lot of surveillance, something like Big Brother. If the government want, they can check where Are has been driving, because he has a chip on his bike that register when he crosses toll-stations and etc..

Singapore's new casino, with a park on top!!

We got home at the same time as Are, so we enjoyed a few beers before heading out for some Thai food and a live-band night. There are a lot of live bands in Singapore in bars. This band was extremely good, and they came in second in Singapore’s  X-factor..

Live band night and dinner

We just had to take a picture of some of the cars on the Sentosa island, it was incredible.. We have never seen so many expensive cars in one parking lot and on the street.

Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari are everywhere on Sentosa

The next day we enjoyed Little India and some shopping. Fun fact: Chewinggum is illegal in Singapore because they want to keep their streets clean. It’s not illegal to chew, but to sell, however if you bring too much gum into the country if you’ve been traveling, you can get a ticket!! haha

One of three beaches in Sentosa island

Are introduced us to some of his co-workers and we all went to have seafood. After that we went clubbing. There was one club where girls could drink free cocktails the whole night, I don’t know how they earned money because there were only girls in that club.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay in Singapore. Are made it extremely pleasant for us with his generosity and hospitality, the city was really nice and easy to get around, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Sadly, the plane-ticket to Bali was already booked..

Silje (brunette) got an extra check from KL to Singapore

  1. Heia! Kos dere masse videre! Gleder meg til å høre mer 🙂 Savner dere masse!! Stor klem til dere begge!!!
